Pawan Kalyan Speaks About His new Political Avatar!

Power star Pavan Kalyan has been appointed as the chief of “Yuva Rajyam” the youth wing of Praja Rajyam Party led by his brother Chiranjeevi. Known for his volatility, Pavan Kalyan, in an exclusive interview to Deccan Post, for the first time spoke about his life, views and political tasks. Excerpts.

Tell us about your journey from films to politics?

It happened over a period of time. In fact, my entry into films too was not intentional because, I was never serious about acting and becoming a film star. I have grown up watching films and probably my brother Chiranjeevi’s entry into films and his emergence as a star may have influenced me.

What are your interests?

Basically, I am drawn towards social issues and the ups and downs in life. Even if not in politics, certainly I would have been in public service in one way or the other. You know, for me, pursuit of life is more important than success.

Are you a deep thinker?

It may be so. I used to ponder a lot on issues like why some people are born beautiful and others not. I spent a great deal of my life thinking about God and spirituality. I led the life of an ascetic for over a year. I was more influenced by William Thoreau’s Wallden Pond concept. I read many books on a range of subjects like philosophy.

Who were the heroes that inspired you in your teens?

I was attracted by freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh and Subhash Chandra Bose, of course, Mahatma Gandhi also. When I was 18 or 19, Leftist ideology inspired me, but at the same time, patriotism was always there.

When did you get the idea of joining politics for the first time?

It was a conscious call that I had four or five years ago. Though I was not politically inclined since childhood, I later realised that politics do dictate our public life. I also observed that the rural youth have a lot of passion and there is none to channel their energies in a proper direction.

Would you have joined any other existing political party, if it was not your brother’s party?

No, I would not have joined any other party. But, certainly I would have joined politics. I am so fascinated by this Deccan Plateau and its beautiful rock formations. In the name of development, politicians have destroyed all this. People have been pushed to misery.

So, you have set an ambitious agenda for yourself?

My task is to change a lot of existing things. More importantly the way people look at things – eliminate poverty. Now, no one cares for the common man and his plight. Human dignity has become unimportant now. I want this to be changed.

Do you have any particular political ideology?

I have studied all ideologies including that of RSS and the extreme Left. We do need ideologies as they help us in grappling with the problems of our country. But, I feel that any ideology cannot be blindly applied. Cultural context has to be kept in mind before applying any ideology.

Now that you have been appointed as the president of Yuva Rajyam, youth wing of Praja Rajyam party (PRP). What are your tasks?

My first concern is to bring the youth to politics and public service. I want to build the youth wing in a big way. I have long term plans for this. We want to train a large number of youth allover the state in a phased manner. They will be fully equipped to deal with any kind challenge to the society or the nation.

How do you want to go about it?

My aim is to train about 2.80 lakh youth as active members of the party. Now we are in the process of identifying about five lakh youth. But, it may take a couple of years. Before the elections next April, a few thousands of them may be ready. They will be given 6 to 8 hours basic orientation. And training will be in 3 to 4 levels.

What is the structure of the Yuva Rajyam?

We are going to open our office very shortly where there would be a large number of departments - political, community service and personality development. Soon, I will constitute a state committee and see that district; town and local level committees too are in place.

Our Yuva Rajyam members will be in the age group of 18 to 35 years. May be I am slightly older for the task, but it is okay that the next leadership will come from that age group. I want the youth to be in the forefront of community service.

What kind of leader is Chiranjeevi?

He is a committed person. He is not tempted by power or pelf. As the elder son of the house, he has seen many ups and downs and took upon himself many tasks. My brother is a dedicated hard worker. People have huge expectations from him. They think that he can bring about change in their lives.

CM Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy says, PRP is not at all a force to reckon with?

I do not know why he said so. But, I have seen the response of the youth and people in general. I believe in the power of youth. They will give answers to all questions.

There is criticism that PRP does not have any organisational network, which is crucial to poll management? There is also a delay in appointing party committees?

Everything will be in place very soon. It is not easier to appoint committees in a multi- caste and multi– cultural society like ours. But, let me make it clear that we are fully ready to face the elections.

What about discredited elements from different parties joining your party? Is there any scope for money culture in PRP?

One thing I can say confidently is that tickets will not be sold in our party. They have to be earned by candidates through their clean image and hard work. At our core committee level, we are keen on avoiding this money culture. Even down the line, it will not be allowed.

What would be the impact of Balakrishna and other Nandamuri stars campaigning for TDP?

I do not think there will be any impact. But, let us see how the public will respond. People have already identified PRP with change and social justice.

How many Yuva Rajyam members will be given tickets in the elections?

None of the young members would be craving for power. But, of course, we will see how best we can utilise their services in the elections.

will chiru face camera again?

Chiru who is busy with his political party Praja Rajyam is all set to face the camera very soon- as for the filmnagar sources.
Chiru is going to do a remake- The Wednesday-the Bollywood film.
The film deals with terrorist back drop and a common man's answer to terror

Though there was rumors that JD will do this remake, it is not the truth.

Now a Tollywood producer is planning the film with Chiru and Sreehari.

Chiru is likely to play Nashiruddun Sha's role and Sreehari will play the police officers role.

The 95% of the film goes around these two roles and Nashiruddin role confirms to a building. So Chiru opted to do this film before election.

Let us wait and see- how far this project could get materialized.

PRP would be driving force of politics in Andhra

Hyderabad: Assembly elections-2009 will be most watched out in the history of Andhra Pradesh as the emergence of Chiranjeevi's Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) on the scene has totally altered the political dynamics in the state even as the ruling Congress party finds itself isolated. Old friends, Telugu Desam Party, Communist Party of India and Communist Party of India (Marxist), have come together once again to fight against the Congress now. In 2004, the Left parties had aligned with the Congress while Telangana Rashtra Samiti was also part of the grand alliance that ousted N Chandrababu Naidu from power. TDP had only the Bharatiya Janata Party for company in 2004 but the combination could not outwit the Congress-Left-TRS combine. The 2004 poll outcome makes for an interesting study. The Congress, which polled 38.56 per cent of the total valid votes, bagged 185 seats in the 294-member state Assembly while the TDP with a 37.59 per cent vote share could manage only 47 seats. The CPI got 1.53 per cent votes (six seats), CPM 1.84 per cent (nine seats) and the TRS 6.68 per cent (26 seats) while the BJP secured 2.63 per cent and just two seats. Elections-2009 will, however, be entirely different. Despite their combination and the prospects of TRS too joining them, the TDP-Left combine cannot sit confident of a victory. Here comes the PRP into play which could mar its prospects as well as those of the ruling Congress. How much will the vote split be is not easy to predict but at least in the coastal Andhra region and to some extent in Rayalaseema, Chiranjeevi's party could cast its spell, political analysts feel. The PRP's impact is expected to be maximum in East Godavari and West Godavari districts, which hitherto used to be the TDP's citadels. In north coastal Andhra too, comprising Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam districts, Chiranjeevi's party is likely to eat into the traditional TDP votes much to the comfort of the Congress. "In the final analysis, this could prove to be the most decisive factor in determining who comes to power. Of course, the outcome in Telangana will also be crucial as the region has as many as 117 seats," one political analyst pointed out. The Congress, however, is putting up a bravefront saying no combination or force could prevent it from retaining power. "It will be a positive vote for the government, which is quite unprecedented. The slew of welfare measures, apart from the major development works including the construction of irrigation projects, will stand us in good stead," Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy says. There is also widespread talk in the political circles here that another "Mega" alliance is in the making , Chiranjeevi's PRP, bureaucrat-turned-politician N Jayprakash Narayan's Lok Satta Party and former TDP leader T Devender Goud's Nava Telangana Party. It is also being speculated that the BJP too will be part of this alliance but Chiranjeevi has categorically ruled out any alliance with the saffron party. Lok Satta Party and Nava Telangana Party as such have little influence and will solely try to cash in on Chiranjeevi's charisma. Nevertheless, these combinations will certainly dent the prospects of the Congress and may well dash its hopes of retaining power. Bureau Report

Interview with chiru

Political analysts some months ago felt that it would a Herculean task for megastar Chiranjeevi to face the media when it come the matter of his political entry. Cracking such fallacies, the actor spoke with perfect ability as a potential politician, giving calculated answers mixed with witticism and humor. From the start to finish, at no point of time, Chiranjeevi felt embarrassed or minced for words. It was like a free flow. Following is the gist of Chiranjeevi’s media interaction, touching on various important issues.

Farmers’ Issue in the state
People think that I don’t know anything about farmers’ problems. You have only seen me as an actor for thirty years. But, what was I before becoming an actor, thirty years ago? I do come a very modest constable family. We had just five acres of land. As a student and whenever I reached my village, I used to become a farmer. A scientific study would be launched into their problems for effective troubleshooting.

Declaration of Assets
Already I made it known to the Income Tax department about my assets.

Is politics in state totally rotten? Any vacuum?
No. I don’t think so. I strongly believe and perceive that people are in need of a constructive change. They are wholeheartedly inviting such a change. Yes, there is a big vacuum-like situation in the state. If not, why such a roaring response to my political entry in the state?

Who are your rivals? YSR or Chandrababu?
I don’t have any rivals in politics. Those who have the capability and goodness are always fit to do politics. My rivals are poverty and hunger. From my heart of hearts I loath backwardness. The good is not reaching the public to the lowest level. Poor are becoming even poorer and rich, richer. I want to cement this growing gap.

Are you a Robinhood?
No, I am the livelihood of the poor and downtrodden people. Certainly, I will change the present scenario. Basic point of my agenda is Pro-Poor.

Any retirement from films?
All these thirty years, the film industry took me into her caring fold. How can I forget it? The very thought of separating from it is heart pinching to me. Whenever there is a need to do socially-relevant films, I shall do. This is also like public service. Such films should be highly respectful.

Placement for women in party
We all know that women constitute half of the sky. Though, we may not be giving fifty percent prominence, but we shall give highly appreciable place to them. It is women who are my major strength.

Political alliances
At present, we are not interested. Now, our movement is only with the people. If such a thing really comes, definitely we will consider and there is nothing wrong in it.

Who are your political gurus?
People are my gurus. They will decide me where we should stand.

Money is necessary to run a political party? What about you?
Yes. Money is very important for administering a political party. People will give that. People are my wealth. I will run the party with the Abhimanam of my people.

How many seats you are expecting?
I already said I am not for power or position. It is for the people to decide how many seats to give to me.

Your response to migrations of other party people into your party?
Yes. If there is any person who is politically experienced, holding the potential to inspire the youth, he is welcome for us.

Anything lacking in Babu and YSR governments?
It is not my concern. Coming to me, I wish to do things with a difference. It is most vital to me.

    RamCharan Speaks AbouT Chiru!!!!!!

Chiranjeevi the politician or the actor…Dad as an actor any day. But, as an actor, there has been a saturation coming in. I don’t think he could have physically tolerated more than another 10 years. He needs to keep busy and I am very happy he took this decision

Your favorite among family members…Dad no doubt. But I relate more to my uncle’s (Pawan Kalyan) films

Critical acclaim or commercial success…For my bread out butter, I would say commercial success. But for my personal satisfaction, critical appreciation is required. I’ll try to balance both

Pawan Kalyan the actor or as an uncle…The actor is definitely more fun than the uncle I know. He is so sober and reserved you will run out of conversation within 30 seconds with him. But on screen, nobody can do better comedy than him

Bunny the actor or Bunny the cousin…Both are the same. He is exactly what you see on screen

First thing that comes to mind about…Allu Arjun – crazy, wacko, funky
Rana – (after a lot of thought) – a winnable hunk but a very soft guy inside. He reaches out to people as a huge personality but is the most fun loving guy
Sharwanand – he adores me more than himself, no pun intended

Best body in tinsel town…I like bunny's and Surya’s. There are a lot of people who show their six packs but what appeals to me as symmetric and proportionate are those of Bunny and Surya

Sexiest actress in Tollywood…Everybody is nice. I cannot pick one name

3 am friends…Vikram, Vishwas, Rajiv Mallu and Sharwanand

Raja Mouli or Puri Jagannath, which one do you pick…I pick myself out of this question

Who in the Telugu industry would make the perfect…Super Hero – myself
Comedy Star – Pawan Kalyan and Allari Naresh
    Intense Acting – my dad
Negative Role – Myself, as I love playing a mean bad guy
Action – my dad and my uncle
Emotional Love Story – Siddharth, I also like uncle Kalyan

Turn on in a woman…I like a bit of attitude in woman

Dream role and movie Sea Biscuit

Five years from now…I don’t even know what I will be doing five days from now!

Most promising actress in Tollywood…Neha Sharma, my co-star in Chirutha. She has not received much publicity yet but has great potential

Hobbies…Horseback riding. Also, Bunny recently introduced me to facebook. So now that’s keeping me entertained

Dad’s movie you would want to remake…Abhilasha, it’s a film with a sports backdrop

A recent movie you could have pulled off…Bommarillu, and Jalsa

One thing you would like to change about yourself…I’m very moody, I would like to change that

    Welcome !!!!!!!!!!

    hi it is test message
